Experiences
Alongside our rich curriculum, our Reception children enjoy a variety of exciting opportunities that go beyond the everyday classroom. From hands-on visits to the local farm, where children can see, touch, and learn about animals and nature, to interactive sessions with the local fire service, which spark curiosity and build important safety awareness — these experiences bring learning to life. Each visit and special event is carefully planned to deepen understanding, broaden horizons, and create lasting memories that support both personal development and academic growth.
Below are some examples of the enriching experiences our EYFS children enjoy.
A Trip to the Farm
A trip to the farm offers EYFS children a rich, hands-on learning experience where they can explore the natural world up close. From feeding animals and observing their habitats to learning about where food comes from, the visit supports early science, language, and social development in a fun and memorable way. It also nurtures curiosity, care for living things, and real-life connections to classroom learning.
Visits from Local Services
Visits from local services such as firefighters, police officers, postal workers, and midwives give EYFS children a valuable insight into the people who help us in our community. These real-life encounters spark curiosity, build respect for different roles, and support understanding of the world. They also help develop language, listening skills, and a sense of safety and responsibility in an engaging, hands-on way.
