LEARNING AN INSTRUMENT AT SHELLEY SCHOOL
We are very excited to be able to offer a broad range of musical instruments at Shelley and urge you to consider the numerous benefits for your child if they do take up lessons.
Research shows that children who take music lessons often see noticeable increases in general intelligence scores and improvements in their working memory, processing speed, and cognitive reasoning. This is because regular musical practice engages multiple brain systems simultaneously, strengthening the communication between the brain's left and right hemispheres
It also develops their fine motor skills, confidence, concentration, self-esteem and can lead to the opportunities of joining bands and orchestras as they get older. It is so much easier to master a new skill at their age and so many adults wish they had had the chance to try!
At Shelley we offer private tuition during the school day on the following instruments. Children start with group lessons (£11 per lesson).
